Overview

Hunica is a boutique studio I co-founded in 2023, specializing in branding, UI/UX, and digital design.


For our own brand identity, the challenge was to build a professional yet approachable visual system that reflected who we are: creative, human, boutique, and precise.

This project included:

  • Logo design (with grid construction).

  • Color palette & typography system.

  • Brand applications (website, stationery, social media).

The Challenge

Designing our own identity required us to:

  1. Establish credibility as a new studio.

  2. Convey a premium yet human aesthetic.

  3. Ensure flexibility across print & digital.

  4. Align with our studio values: creativity, clarity, warmth, professionalism, passion.

 

To address these challenges, we began with the foundation of every brand: its name and logo.

Logo & Name Story

The name Hunica was born from the union of the two co-founders:

  • Hu → Hugo

  • Nica → Verónica

  • Rounded letterforms → collaboration and approachability.

  • Magente accent dot → the spark of creativity at the center of our work.

  • Playful yet balanced geometry → human warmth + professional clarity.

Once the story behind the name was defined, we translated it into a flexible logo system.

Logo System

To ensure scalability and consistency, we developed a grid-based system and multiple logo variations:

  • Primary logo with tagline.

  • Single-color and full-color adaptations.

  • Icon version (monogram “h”).

Special attention was given to optical balance: the “o” and “awere adapted to visually compensate for their rounded shapes, ensuring a more harmonious look across the wordmark.

 

This flexibility allows Hunica’s identity to adapt seamlessly across print, digital, and social media.

With the logo in place, the next step was to expand the identity into a coherent color and typography system.

Color Palette

Our palette balances trust & creativity:

  • Hunica Classic Blue – trust, stability.

  • Hunica Magenta – creativity, energy.

  • Hunica Dark Blue & Hunica Light Blue – sophistication, depth.

  • Neutrals (black/white) – optional for flexibility.

The color palette was paired with a typeface that supports clarity and adaptability.

Typography

We selected Open Sans Medium as our brand font: 

  

  • Clear, modern, versatile.

  • Works across digital + print.

  • Supports minimal, professional identity.

Together, logo, color, and typography formed the core system — ready to be applied in multiple contexts.

Applications

  • Website design – clean, structured, inviting.

  • Stationery – business cards, project proposals, stickers

  • Product logos – our services logos

  • Social media kit – headers, post templates, story templates.

  • Posters – social media post.

  • Digital business card - interactive NFC card 

Conclusion

Hunica’s branding positioned the studio as a trusted, boutique design partner.

 

The strong identity made it easy to connect with high-value clients and clearly communicate our services.
